I have been looking forward to their visit since before Caroline was born! Out of town visitors are always the highlight of my month- but this was even more special. Isn't it funny that I'm almost 27 and I still have those "I can't believe I'm this grown up" moments? This weekend it hit me that me and Em were hanging out with our husbands taking care of my baby in my house. Seems like yesterday we shared a room! Anyway, all of that to say I was really pumped about their visit. I thought I would start weeks before planning what we were going to eat and where we were going to go. Funny how much life changes with a baby! I ended up in a bit of a panic around Wednesday that I h
adn't really planned much! I quickly decided that Friday we would grill a meal that Jeff and I had done for ourselves earlier in the month: Grilled Pork Tenderloin, Grilled Corn on the Cob and Greenbeans with Almonds. We had everything we needed in the freezer, but in true Anna fashion I wanted it to be a little more special. I had talked to Em one night last week and she was on her way to the Farmer's Market to pick up some "veggies for dinner" so I thought, "Wouldn't it be nice to have fresh corn on the cob from the farmer's market to grill?" I meant to get it on Friday morning after bible study, but again, in true Anna fashion, I spent too much time visiting and shopping at the church yard sale a
fterwards and I needed to get Care home to eat. When I realized I had missed my opportunity, I resolved to just have the corn in the freezer (boo). Em and Dave arrived around 5 pm Friday evening. Em went straight for Caroline and Brinkley went straight for David. Seeing that this might be the beginning of a rather long weekend for Dave, I thought, "ah hah- the men can go get the corn!". There is a farmer's market close to our house in Tyrone and another one on the other side of Peachtree City in Sharpsburg. I thought that the one in Tyrone may close around 5 but thought they could check it out (just incase) and then head to Sharpsburg if that one was closed. Unfortunately, they were both closed by 6. There goes me trying to look like I shop at these places often ;) So, after driving through Tyrone, Peachtree City, and Sharpsburg, they ended up buying the "fresh corn" at our local Publix. Once they finally arrived back home, Jeff got
to work on dinner while Caroline and Em continued to play and David took over occupying Brinkley. With all the hustle and bustle though, the corn burned on the grill and had to be thrown out. So, we ended up eating the corn that we had in the freezer after all! Which turned out just lovely :)As you saw in the earlier post, we went up to Commerce, GA for shopping on Saturday. Everyone had a great time. We
came home and had some good old fashioned hamburgers and sweet potato fries followed by Em and Dave's "special brownies" (they had a candy bar in them- YUMM!). Dave
and Em went to Blockbuster to try and find a Brian Regan DVD but were unsuccessful so they introduced us to Arrested Developement instead. It is a little crude, but pretty funny! On Sunday Em and Dave went to visit Dave's brother Claude and his wife Rachel at their new home in Augusta. Jeff, Caroline, and I went to church and then came home for a restful afternoon. Em and Dave got back around 6:00 which was right after Jeff left to go to the Braves game with Clark. Em, Dave a
nd I ate the remaing pork tenderloin with some couscous (a fabulous recipe that I got from Sophie) and black eyed peas. Em and Dave had never had couscous so I made the black eyed peas just incase they didn't like it. But I think it was a hit. Caroline had a little bit of a rough evening, but I was finally able to calm her down and got her into bed at 9:30. And she slept until 7:20!! That's almost 10 hours! I am SO proud! She and Em had a fun time in their pj's this morning before they had to hit the road. I absolutely hated to see them go. I always have so much fun seeing Caroline with her Aunt Meme! But hopefully it won't be long before we get to see them again.

We made the blog! wahoo! We had a great visit- thanks for having us. I miss Caroline already. David does too. I can tell she has won a special place in his heart when on the way home we were talking about her and he said "She is pretty cute when she coos". He doesn't use the word "cute' lightly. :) Anyways, we love you all! Em
ReplyDeleteI love my Care-Bug! These are precious pictures. It took a while to figure out what "toy" legs were on the floor behind Brinkley! It's Emily! Can't wait to see you in a couple of weeks. I love you all! Grammy
