We made it! Our first day of Daycare (or School as Jeff insists we call it) and work are over! I wasn't sure we were going to make it... Yesterday afternoon at around 2:00 I pulled a muscle in my back. It was awful, I couldn't bend over much less pick Caroline up. I had her in my arms when I did it so I had to find a way to set her down. I called Mom and she said to put her on my bed since I wouldn't have to bend too much to get her there. So I did that and then we laid there and she fell asleep- whew! Then she woke up... and was hungry. What to do? Elizabeth to the rescue! I am not sure why God choses to put us in these strange difficult situations, but it is always amazing to see how He provides a way out. On any other day, Elizabeth wouldn't be so readily available (since she does have 2 precious little ones of her own). But this happened to be the day before their family vacation, so Clark was home and could watch Katie and Bryson while Elizabeth rescued poor Caroline! She came over and graciously fought Miss Caroline's temper to get a good 1.5 ounces of milk in her and get her back to sleep. Thanks, Ebeth!!
If you know me at all, you know that at 2:00 the day before a big event, I still had a LOT to get accomplished! But Jeff was the perfect hubby and swooped in to save the day. He took off work early to come home and take Caroline to Target and the grocery to get the items we needed and to let me rest. Before he left he gave me a pad and pen to write down everything I wanted to do that night. When he got home he handed me Caroline to feed and play with and got started on the list. (I'm telling you... perfect hubby!) I started feeling a little better after some time with the heating pad and so after we put Carebear down for the night we were able to get us completely ready to walk out the door the next morning. What a blessing! Because of this, this morning went exceptionally well! Jeff and I were even able to spend some one on one time with Carebug before we headed off.
With a pulled muscle in my back, I was in no shape to take the 100lb carrier out of my car and into the center, but God had a plan for that too. I called Amanda and she was 2 minutes from the center when I arrived. But God planned even better than that (since Amanda is, by the way, 6 months pregnant and has a 1 yr old she needed to get into the center as well). As I was waiting for her to pull up, 2 of the teachers walked by and said "You look like you need help". I explained the situation and without me having to ask they did everything! They took Caroline in, gathered her bags for me and even gave me some advice about my back! Taste and see that the Lord is GOOD!
Once we got into the building, God had even more people lined up to help: The teachers took Caroline into her classroom while I gave her paperwork to the director. Then Kimberly and Amanda both were able to come into the classroom to help ease our goodbye. Even better, Caroline was the only one in her classroom today!! She got one on one time with her teacher all day. And if she is my child... this is exactly what she needed- just a little one on one time to warm up to her teacher! Now she will be ready to face a classroom full of children with no problem! Taste and SEE that the Lord is GOOD!
The day just continued in the same fashion- she ended up taking 4 good naps and drank all of her first bottle (4.5 ounces) and 1.5 ounces of her second. Our feeding went very well at lunch and neither one of us had a problem saying goodbye for the second time. We both knew without a shadow of a doubt by that point that she was in great hands! They even took pictures during her day (above) to show me how much fun she had! Taste and see that the Lord is GOOD!
Mommy did really well with her first day of work as well. I was able to ease right back into the swing of things with the help of several texts and emails from friends and family to let me know they were praying AND 2 beautiful flower arrangements- one sent to the office by my perfect hubby and the other waiting on my front door step from a sweet friend! Taste and see that the Lord is GOOD!
Thank you to each and every one of you that thought about and prayed for us today. I cannot say it enough- taste and see that the Lord is GOOD! He answers the prayers of His people and you truly were His hands and feet today.
What a blassing! I am so glad the first day went well, especially with the potential to be horrible. Our God is good!
